I help product teams modernise Android, adopt Kotlin Multiplatform, and ship contained AI features with senior hands-on delivery. Mobile and applied AI are both hireable tracks, not a rebrand away from either.
Over a decade shipping production mobile products used by millions across Sky, BetMGM, WWE and BritBox. Applied AI evidence from independent products: Paglipat’s production concierge, the live chat on this site, and a contained ElTarot reading feature.

The detailed technology inventory belongs in the CV. These are the commercial tracks I take on.
Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, modular architecture, testing, delivery pipelines, and incremental change inside live products.
Share the stable domain and data layers while Android and iOS keep native integration, UX, and platform ownership.
Contained assistants and generation features with grounding, guardrails, cost control, and tests. Evidence from independent products, not invented client AI work.
I arrived in the UK with little money, no English, and no degree. I worked at McDonald's and later in ambulance care before teaching myself software development on a second-hand laptop.
That route shaped how I work: reduce ambiguity, learn the system, help the people around me, and leave something maintainable. My career moved through IGT, Massive Interactive, Deltatre, Sky, and Deliveroo across hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and people management.
Outside company work, I wrote You Are Not That Important, teach Android courses to 20,000+ students, mentor working developers, and maintain independent products and open source.
I am also studying machine learning in public. That journal is deliberately labelled as learning, not as an established professional capability.
Based in London, remote-friendly, and open to focused senior mobile engagements. Mentoring remains available separately for individual developers.
David Cruz Anaya, also known as davthecoder, is a London-based senior mobile and applied AI engineer. He freelances on Android modernisation, Kotlin Multiplatform, and production AI product features.
Company work includes Android app modernisation, incremental KMP adoption, embedded senior delivery, native or Rust performance work, and applied AI product features. Mentoring is a separate route for individual developers.
The ML Journal is a learning log, not model training or MLOps as a service. Applied AI for hire means contained product features (assistants, tool calling, guardrails, cost control) with independent product evidence such as Paglipat and this site’s chat.
